PS5 Pro stock tracker: Where to buy Sony's new console on release day (2024)

If all those PS5 Pro unboxing videos have you feeling green with envy, don’t worry – you can finally get your hands on Sony’s supercharged console.

With the pre-order period now officially over, plenty of stores are selling the powerful gaming machine, so there’s nothing stopping you from playing straightaway – well, apart from the dizzying price.

To make sure you don’t miss out, we’ve tracked down all the UK retailers currently selling the PS5 Pro, along with their latest stock levels.

How much is the PS5 Pro?

The PS5 Pro is officially launching in-stores today (November 7), bringing to an end its staggered rollout.

Until now, the console was only available as pre-order exclusively through Sony’s PS Direct site to start and later via additional online retailers.

The official launch is today

Sony

The PS5 Pro costs £699.99 in the UK and comes with a single DualSense controller. For that price, you’re getting the most powerful games console money can buy. Sony’s gaming behemoth is a powerful mid-generation upgrade to the PS5 that delivers improved graphics and faster performance.

While it can only play digital games out of the box, you can buy a disc drive separately for £99.99. A vertical stand can also be snapped up for £24.99 if you want to stand it upright versus on its side. All told, you’re looking at spending £824.97 with all the extras.

Where to buy the PS5 Pro in the UK

The PS5 Pro is now available to buy at the following stores:

Where to buy the PS5 Disc Drive in the UK

As we write this, the PS5 Disc Drive is not available from any of the usual retailers. The PS5 Pro uses the same disc accessory as the PS5 Slim, and Sony has not flooded the market with stock in anticipation of Pro console buyers.

Drives are selling for double their real value on eBay. We’d advise waiting for stock to show up elsewhere rather than succumb to PS5 Pro Disc Drive mania and pay way over the odds. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if stock shortages continue to the end of 2024.

Your best bet may be to bookmark the Sony store link for the Disc Drive, as intermittent stock refreshes are likely.

What about the PS5 30th Anniversary console?

Bad news if you were hoping for one of the first-wave 30th Anniversary consoles: they sold out soon after they were released.

However, an Anniversary edition of the PS5 Pro is yet to go on sale. It will be available on November 21, and probably not after that date as they are likely to sell out fast.

The PS5 Pro Anniversary bundle costs £959.99, but that does include the PS5 Pro, Disc Drive, a controller charging station, stand, the standard controller and an Edge controller. A standard version of one of those costs £200. Set a reminder and head to the PlayStation Store link if you want to be in with a chance of snagging one – only 12,300 will be sold, globally.

PS5 Pro specs

The PS5 Pro boasts three key features: a larger GPU, advanced ray tracing for more realistic lighting, and custom AI-driven upscaling that can boost the visuals of games new and old.

With reviewers getting their hands on the new console, they’ve broken down some of those specs in more detail. They confirm that the console packs an AMD Ryzen Zen 2 processor with eight cores and 16 threads. The graphics engine, based on AMD’s RDNA tech, delivers 16.7 teraflops (TF) of GPU power – up from the base PS5’s 10.23 TF.

Earlier this year, leaked documents hinted at even higher performance, due to updates in AMD’s architecture, but these latest specs are still impressive.

The manual also confirms 16GB of GDDR6 memory, along with an extra 2GB of DDR5 memory for non-gaming tasks. Storage-wise, there’s a hefty 2TB custom SSD, more than double the regular PS5. As for power, the PS5 Pro’s max draw is 390W, slightly higher than the 340W used by the slim and standard PS5 Digital Edition, though it won’t be hitting that peak all the time.
